Cadillac SRX Turbo AWD – Is the SRX Competition for Lexus and BMW crossovers?

The all new Cadillac SRX hits a bulls-eye in the heart of the luxury crossover segment.   Look out Lexus RX 350!  Look out X3!  With a fresh design and no cut corners, Cadillac has delivered a luxury package that is upscale, yet fun to drive.  Its powerplant, with the optional 2.8 liter V-6 turbo-charged engine produces 300 horsepower and 295 ft. pounds of torque with no noticeable turbo lag.  The engine was responsive when pressed and quiet while cruising.  The vehicle's chassis is tight, and handles the road effortlessly giving the driver the feeling that they are driving a sedan instead of a crossover.  My first impression of the vehicle was the similarity to the very popular Cadillac CTS but with the room and functionality of a crossover.  As I was able to enjoy the vehicle, I came to realize that Cadillac had produced a more masculine looking crossover than the Lexus RX 350.  The vehicle is stylish and not in any way dated.  The interior, likewise, deserves to be applauded.  Cadillac has done an excellent job of bringing the interior of the vehicle up to the standards we expect in this class.  The leather is supple, the hand-stitching throughout the dash is very attractive, and the center stack is functional and good looking.  There is plenty of room for your passengers and cargo; even adults will find the back seat comfortable.  The feeling of a large cabin is enhanced by the "ultra-view" sunroof - which seems to cover the entire roof.  Hit the sunroof shade button and the shade silently disappears revealing an oversized sunroof with an equally sized moon roof directly behind it - bathing the rear seat in a clear view of the sky.  It is a feature that says "wow!"  Add to that heated and ventilated seats, an advanced navigation system and 10 speaker Bose digital sound system and you have an electronically advanced, good looking, performance crossover vehicle.
