Free Car Seat Safety Check Locations
Free Car Seat Safety Inspections
Is your child's safety seat installed correctly? Are you sure?
The majority of parents believe that their child’s car seat is properly installed, but research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that 8 out of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly.
For free installation and inspection, contact your local fire department. You can also find inspection stations in your area by visiting http://www.seatcheck.org or calling 1-866-SEATCHECK (866-732-8243) or viewing The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s database of inspection sites.
Come by any of the FREE seat check events below and have your car seat/booster seat checked for proper installation.
It could... save your child's life!
*Parents should bring their vehicle owner's manual and car seat instruction book, if they have them. Seat checks usually take between 20-30 minutes per seat. Please leave your child in the car seat when you arrive to ensure an accurate assessment of the seat's installation.

Parents: If you didn't find a seat check near you, try contacting your local police department, sheriff's office or fire department and ask if they have a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician who can assist you. You can also mouse over the Child Passenger Safety tab at the top left of this page and choose Find a Technician or Find a Fitting Station. Fitting stations are designed to educate parents about the correct installation of a child safety seat that is appropriate for the child's height, weight, and age.
Some seat check events may provide parents in local communities the option of trading an unsafe seat for a safer one.
